The Pickens County Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center are off to a great start for attracting visitors in 2016. Breath in the fresh Appalachian air, then set out for a leisurely walk in a park or hike along a mountain trail in Pickens County and the surrounding north Georgia mountain area.
As an enthusiastic hiker when I permanently moved to our mountain home in Pickens County, I was interested in local hiking trails. I heard that they were here, just didn’t know where to find them!
Coming soon! A Hike Pickens guide will be available in both print and digital formats categorizing walking and hiking trails in Pickens County and vicinity. Trail descriptions, colorful pictures, and directions are included in the guide and it will be available at the Visitor Center, to other Visitor and Welcome Centers in Georgia, and published on the www.VisitPickens.com and the state www.ExploreGeorgia.com websites.
In addition, we are excited about three directional road signs being designed and installed on Burnt Mountain Road for Burnt Mountain Preserve and Mt. Oglethorpe / Eagle’s Rest. Signage is provided from the combined efforts and resources of the Pickens County Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center, Pickens County, and Mountain Stewards. The signs will brand future hiking and biking trails in Pickens County.
The timeframe for printing of the Hike Pickens guide and installation of the signs is late March or early April.
The Pickens County Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center invites visitors to take a hike and enjoy our beautiful mountain environment! Just a short distance from Atlanta!
